How plastic shavings become perfect powders.
The customer
Stasskol GmbH, a manufacturer of seals made of high-performance plastics with its own research, development and testing department.
The task
Plastic shavings result from the seal manufacturing process. The aim is to return these shavings to the material cycle. The question was whether this could be achieved through grinding – and with quantities on an industrial scale.
The result
Extensive grinding tests were performed in several settings at the DG Technical Center. It was possible to set the particle sizes of d50 bis 30-40 μm very precisely and comprehensively document the respective processes. Having successfully implemented the processes for small quantities, DG was then able to scale them up to an industrial scale.
